VENICE DESIGN, the largest design exhibition running alongside La Biennale di Venezia, from 13th of May to 26th of November 2017 is honoured and pleased to host the exhibition “NO TASTE FOR BAD TASTE so Starck, so Bouroullec … so Le French Design”.
Created by the V.I.A (Valuation of Innovation in Furnishing) in collaboration with the Institut français to mark 40 years of dedication to design, the nomadic exhibition “NO TASTE FOR BAD TASTE” proposes a selection of 40 iconic pieces from the best French designers. Ionna Vautrin, matali crasset, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, Mathieu Lehanneur, Julie Richoz and many others will be represented. Resulting from the input of a think tank of more than 40 French experts "le" French Design was defined by 10 values that guided the choice of iconic pieces and contributed to stage the exhibition. These 10 values, among others « Art de vivre », « Elegance and a hint of luxury », « Audacity » and « Savoir faire », take shape within a unique and poetic scenography of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, showcasing the creativity of le French Design and promoting the French furniture industry around the world. After its official inauguration as part of the Furniture Show, at the Institut Français Milano on the 5th of April 2017, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the "NO TASTE FOR BAD TASTE" exhibition will be presented from the 22nd of June to the 20th of August 2017 in Palazzo Rossini in Venice. After Venice, the exhibition will then travel to over twenty countries from 2017 to 2020, making its mark at key international events in the design and furniture sector with the very best of French Design.
VENICE DESIGN 2017 intends to give a glimpse of the multiple visions of contemporary international designers and is a testimony as well as evidence of the current design scene. For its second consecutive year, the exhibition will be hosted by the European Cultural Centre in the historical location of Palazzo Michiel in the very heart of Venice. Over 80 designers from 30 different countries and of various cultural backgrounds will present their creations and approaches. This year in its two palazzos, VENICE DESIGN is an ambassador of international design; while Palazzo Michiel proclaims a global vision on design, Palazzo Rossini hosts the excellence of French iconic pieces.
